Don't buy supermarket petrol. It's low on additive's anyway, & this is just a more extreme example. I use Shell, Texaco or BP - unless I'm about to run out, & then it's a case of "any port in a storm".

I'm in Kent (in the South of England) and now only using Shell V Power (high octane). My RR loves it and it's good fuel.

Only tend to use Esso/BP/Shell myself.

Supermarket fuel has always been crap (no matter what they say).

Oh yeah - can heartily recommend using higher octane btw. currently saving myself about a quid a day (I fill up every day when commuting by bike - 113 mile round trip).

My commute is only 22 miles round trip, You reckon the higher octane is worth it then?

Here in Chicago, all the fuel comes up a pipeline from the gulf. All the fuel is the same until the distributers get their hands on it and put their additives in it, so all the fuel here is just about the same.

I heard the suspect fuel came from Essex, but has been distributed all over the place. My local tesco had some apparently, which is in Byfleet, Surrey.

Personally I tend to use super unleaded, or V-power, generally the best that is available at the time, and rarely use supermarkets.
I do notice a slight difference in performance, though it may just be in my mind.
I've been using it since my days as a 16 year old on a moped. It was the difference between 30 and 35 mph back then, which to a 16 year old is a lot! It also made a huge difference on my 125cc, considering the cost difference isn't too bad on a bike, I just use it anyway now, probably better for the bike in the long run.

I'm finding the higer octane fuels don't give any performance benefits, but seems to last longer, ie I get more miles out of a tankful, hence the saving.

My local branded filling stations are mainly Total or Esso (run by Tesco) so I rarely see Shell or BP. Will try the super stuff next time I'm out for a run.
