Almost there : Garmin 2720 + wired helmet speakers ...but

Well the "but" is because I am only hearing the rh speaker from my Garmin 2720. The Garmin female audio plug requires a 2.5mm male (stereo) jack. No problem - my helmet speakers came with an adapter for the standard 3.5mm jacks (and I had already bought an adapter in any case).

HOWEVER, if I slowly remove the jack, there is a point where I get both right and left speakers working. However it's a poor connection; clicked-in (as it should be) and it's only my right ear which receives the dulcet tones of Emily (UK English) Sat Nav (my wife says we have a relationship !!).

So how can I solve this one; it's NOT a problem with the helmet speakers because, if I plug in a standard iPod on the standard 3.5mm jack; it powers out of both speakers.

Any ideas ??

the adapter is "stereo", correct? two plastic rings on the male protuberance.

is the output from the garmin in stereo? seems like it would be a waste of design time to make a stereo gps. i bet that the output is mono.

i would guess that you might need to locate a different adapter that has mono input and a splitter (2 channels of mono) output. i bet garmin sells what you may need.

I agree with iowabeakster. Sounds like it's a mono issue.

I had similar problems with a cell phone. I found that some 2.5 mm plugs are meant for mono + mic, and others for stereo. The adapter I bought did not work and I had to go to the phone provider to get the right headphones.

The 2.5mm mono to 3.5mm stereo adapter plug arrived yesterday and works perfectly; I now have my SatNav's voice central in my Arai helmet :)
Just have to wait for the snow and ice to clear and I'll be able to use it properly!
