Oh, I get the chills!. This tank should not have any tankbag.


Place a bag on the holder in the back or use its ST/RT type of topbox.

...but I don't like the look of the bike with a tail bag. I have a small RT bag left over from the R12RT I got rid of, but I thought the bike looked like it should say Pizza Hut on it with just that. I like to have just a tank bag for day rides. I'll keep looking.

I have a magnetic Marsee tank bag, but I'm afraid to use it, since the R1200R tank styling won't allow the magnets to lie flat against the tank. I like the design and construction of the Marsee bags, so I'm going to look around and see if there isn't one that will suit my needs. I really only need to put a cell phone, tire-pressure gauge, sunglasses and extra gloves in it.

Why not try the R1200GS tank bag? May fit.
I have an R1150RT tank bag on my 1150R, fits well, just needed a couple of mods with the straps. Saved spending the money on a new R bag.
Got it on Ebay.

This is the one sold by BMW. I had the smaller one of this type on my previous F800S. A lot of room in it. Dont look like the best fit to the tank although.

If you don have a passanger, you could use this or equ type from Touratech. Could be mounted just to the sadle:

Good suggestions, all. I wish they had retained the bolts around the gas lid so I could continue to use the Bigmak, but the tank does look better without them.

I have a tankbag that I primarily use on the rear seat. The only time it really goes on the tank is when it's needed along with a passenger.

I have just made a down payment on an R1200R. I do believe I will be buying a BMW tank bag for it. As a way of life I carry around allot of "things" air gauges , ipods, sunglasses, knives, bottle openers, lighters, earplugs, and whatnot.

On my K1200RS I first had a new Marsee tank bag and although it was a nice bag I found that the used BMW tank bag I later bought seemed to be made altogether better. More heavy duty.
When I called my BMW dealer Saturday he couldn't tell me what the price for one is. Does anyone here know?
Also I am thinking of buying the small fairing that Wunderlich has for it. I don't know what IT costs either or where to order it but I like the looks of it. It looks like the fairing on a late 70s or early 80s "S" bike.

I have the Cor-Tech Super Mini-Mag bag which I find works on a wide variety of odd tank shapes (I don't have a R1200R. Yet.). It's small and moves out the way easily for refueling. I can carry a cell phone, a cruz tools m14, digital camera, extra gloves, a few packs of spare earplugs and liner for a mesh jacket with no problem.
