Blue Moon BMW here in Atlanta has one on display. I saw it last Saturday but didn't get any pics. It looks damn sharp with the bags! But the tiny flyscreen didn't really go with the package. The gas tank is large! Reminded me of a GS tank. The price is just too much for a Roadster. IMO.

I'll try to snap a couple of photos of mine with the cases on tomorrow morning. FWIW, the System II cases look very nice to me. At first I thought they seemed pretty big, but I'm used to them now. Sitting next to a bike with the old System cases, they look a good deal sleeker.

That shiny stuff is 3M retroreflective film, which shows up black in daylight, reflects bright white in headlights (or in a camera flash). It's available from http://www.motoequip.com/ and costs $25 for the half kit (RK-14), and $30 for the full kit (RK-15). Highly recommended if you ride after dark.

That's pretty much my view, Dean. I've never paid more than $1,000.00 for a car. And right now I don't even own one. Just not important to me. A motorcycle is so much more than transportation.

I think the problem people have is that our 1150R cost around 10K or less without ABS and now it's a wee bit more than that.

Is that a steering damper on the telelever?

No they won't, BTW the new cases are vastly superior to the older System Cases.

In what ways are the new cases better than the old?

I don't know about vastly superior, but the System II cases are much improved. They are slightly larger at 32 liters for each side, as opposed to the old cases, which were 25l on the left and 31l on the right. The available space seems more usable, especially on the left side. The cases do seem to close more tightly, and have been impervious to water and dust in my limited experience. The locking mechanism is different and the cases mount very securely to the bike. (As evidence, the maximum recommended speed with the new cases attached is 112 mph, where the maximum recommended speed with the old cases attached was 80, if memory serves.) The restraining straps on the inside are adjustable nylon webbing with a quick-release clip instead of the former elastic ribbon and hook, so they can be adjusted and won't stretch out over time.

I don't know if these improvements justify the $185 increase over the old cases, but if you're going to do any traveling, you've got to have cases.

Allan kind of says it all. The new cases are the same for the R1200RT and ST, the K1200GT and the new R1200R. I have had them for my ST since new and have hit the red line in 6th with them many times, 144 to 148 MPH, this is not indicated speed, but true speed, depending on the condition and type of tyres, ( tire diameter is the diff.)

Are those lids pictured, the largest size? Is there a smaller size lid or perhaps two smaller sizes as on the 98 -2004 K 1200s?
I have put off buying cases for now maybe even thinking about using aluminum GS type bags.

The lids pictured are the only size for the moment. I wouldn't be too surprised if there weren't some "city" lids someday, though.

Wow, I'm curious... why are you running your side cases at a track day? At 148 miles per hour, you ARE at a track day, right?

Why would you think that is on a track day? It is on some of the open roads out here in the west.
