hello beemers
newbie with a 2002 bumblebee R1550R
when i got the bike it came with a TENDER PLUS batterie charger
the guy that sold it to me had just bought a new gel batterie
and never used it
does anybody has one ?do they work well? and is there a procedure to using it ?
it has attachement for the side plugs on the bike and i have the plug

I just bought a Battery Tender Plus for a gel battery, and it seems to works fine. I did some research (a lot here on this board) and though the Tender Plus is not totally ideal for the BMW exide battery, it should work great.

It sounds like your bike has the accessory socket (on the left side, looks a bit like a cigarette lighter plug with a spring-loaded lid) ? If so, you can use (or get) the adapter that will allow you to connect the battery tender to that plug. On 1150Rs, the battery is hidden under the tank, so not ideal to reach.

Battery Tender manual says to plug the charger into the bike socket first and then connect the charger to a wall outlet.

In regards to the lights of the charger I have to check again, but I believe red blinking means no battery connected, and green blinking means trickle charging. Red and green solid I'll have to look up.

Btw, '04s and later came with a gel battery as OEM, older ones don't.
