Adjusting Headlights

If I want to raise the low-beam, do I turn the hexagonal thumb screw? Seems simple enough. I can tilt the entire assembly up or down, but I tried to turn the thumb screw with a lot of resistance and it doesn't seen to raise or lower the beam.

I looked in the owners manual and could not find any info on how to adjust headlight.. Only a small note that it should be done by a trained BMW dealer...? It certainly can't be that hard can it

adjuster #1 is for vertical
# 2 for left to right

Thanks for the know-how. I figured erroneously that each thumbwheel moved each beam up or down.
