Hello Everyone

I've been scanning this forum for about 8 months now and have enjoyed and found the content very informative. I have been looking for a new bike for a while now, saw the R on BMW's web site and fell in love. I then found this forum and have been here ever since, scanning it for every picture I can find and soaking every bit of info I can digest.

I fell so much in love that I have purchased a new 2006 R1150R. The really odd part of this is that I had not seen the bike, sat on one, and have to wait till June 2007 to go and pick it up and drive it home to Newfoundland from Quebec. There is no dearler here in NFLD so I had to purchase it from Montreal, Moto Internationale, these guys were great. All doc were sent, signed and the deal was done.

I guess it's time for some detail. It a 2006 Red ABS R1150R with headed grips (standard on Canadian bikes) touring screen, luggage mounts and rear rack. Oh I bet you would like to see some pics. The guys and the dealership were nice enough to take and sent me a few. It is going to be a long winter waiting to go and get it.

Nice hey!!!!!
I need to sell my present ride now.

On a technical side. While staring at the pics of my bike I noticed that the front telelever shock on my bike is not the same as the ones on all of your bikes. I then noticed that it's the same as the one on the new R1200R, chech it out, any comments. What am i saying i know there will be.

Great to be part of the group.

Hey man!

You just bought the identically set up bike as mine was! Same colour and all! Mine is an 05 model.

That is the 380mm windshield and it is very useful. Especially in the cold. The front shock looks like the one on mine. Get them to stick some bags on it for you-worth every penny!

Congrats, are you going to get your service done in Dieppe, NB?

That's the plan. I plan on stopping there and get the 1,000Km service (Montreal to Dieppe is 1017Km) then do the regular oil changes and stuff myself. I can ride back to Dieppe for the 10,000Km and so no. Part of the reason I picked this bike was the ease of service. The Harley dealer here has a good rep for working on BMW's as well.

Any experience with the dealer in Dieppe? I Know the one in Nova Scoita is gone now.

Hey!!
Congrats on your recent purchase. You'll love this bike. While travelling across Canada I had a service done at Moto-Internationale. These guys are quite competant and easy to deal with.

Enjoy your ride and those great NF roads. Wish we had more time there.

Nope, almost had my 40k done there this summer, it didn't pan out due to scheduling. Book well in advance though.

smckaynl....congrats on your new bike. That is a sexy color. I haven't seen that color before so it must be especific for the year or the country.

Regarding the front shock, I don't think is any diferent from the current offering it is however blak bodied where the current, are silver.

You do have something diferent na d that is the brake lines, they are not rubber, variety, but the braided variety.

Enjoy......it's a great bike.

Wow, a beauty in that colour. A R12R will never look that good.

It'll make the winter all the more enjoyable thinking about the pick up and trip. Though June? I'd get my heated jacket liner and pick her up in April. And I'd make sure they store it properly out back and away from the showroom. Love to do a NFLD trip, one day!

And I agree about the bags, gotta get 'em, though dealer prices are nuts! Try used, they'll scratch up in a day anyways!

The front shock does look different, I can't see the piston shaft.

Congratulations on your purchase. What a bike!!!
It looks sooo much better than the new R1200R. It just takes a picture like that of a new 1150, and I am definately keeping mine.
It would be great to find a newy like that, and be able to afford it, and just put it in your lounge room and admire every night.
Just make you sleep so much better. 8)

Congrats on the new bike. The RR is one of BMW's best looking bikes.
