So, my neighbor Elizabeth has been bugging me for a while to take her for a ride - she shows up at my house a couple of weeks ago and announces "I'm ready"...she's one of those old girls you don't say no to. So, I suit her up and away we go....

We just did a little putt-putt ride around town, she wanted to make sure she was 'seen'.....she was.........

I took my office girl for a ride a while back. She was keen as mustard and kept dropping hints about going for a spin on my new BMW.

We eventually worked something out, and I brought in some gear to try for size until she was fully fitted out.

We took a long lunch, and rode about 50 kms out of town towards a lake, using the old highway so I could get some speed up and put her through some easy bends.

Took the long way back to work, and eventually stopped at a little town about 60 kms out. Sat back and enjoyed a coffee and biscuit at a cafe, sitting out the front, helmets on the table, jackets flung over the back of the chairs, admiring the bike (Atlanta Blue of course) glistening in the sunshine.

Got lots of looks from the lunch-time crowd, and my pillion loved it.

Rode back to work at a good clip along the highway and gave her a good chance to smell the green grass and dead kangaroos up close.

She thought it was fantastic. She's also 61 and I'm quite a bit younger than that!

Good for you Tony...that was a nice thing for you to do...I'm sure you made her day..thanks for posting the pics..what is it with old people and motorcycles..they seem to love them even more than young people.

There's this old guy near me (Clarrie) that turned 80 a few months ago..He lives alone and I go around and watch the Moto Gp races with him..he used to race motorcycles before I was born..he's just like old Burt Munro in the Fastest Indian movie..he couldn't wait to get on my bike for a quick spin around the block..I think he though he could ride it himself.

Good for you Tony. Both to give her a taste of excitement and aventure and as a good will ambassador for motorcycling.

That's sweet, Tony and DJ. The pictures are classics! I was reminded of a song I just found this summer by John Prine called "Hello in There". It's about treating the elderly with some respect and kindness.

Gypsy - My kids used to laugh when I play that old John Prine tape in the car. I sing along to all of them and have a worse voice than Prine!

Last weekend I was at a huge party in our neighborhood (+150 people) and would you believe Elizabeth showed up with about 10 photos of our ride to show off to everyone !

Next thing you know women half her age were asking me for a ride. Now, that's more my speed......
