2 months ago i got a bill for a credit card that i have not been using. they billed me 29 bucks for a "benefits" program. the balance was $0 before and i had not used this card in years.

i called, complained and was told that it would be credited.

1 month ago i got a bill for the $29 plus a $15 late fee and $1 interest. total $45.

i called, complained and was told it would be credited.

yesterday i got a bill. the $29 acutally was credited, $15 lated fee was credited, $1 interest was credited and had another $15 credit.

now this unused card has a credit of $15! these folks apparently are too stupid to steal from us, but they sure do try! Also on this last bill it clearly states that my EFFECTIVE APR is 99.25%. Watch out folks!

Gonna cancel this card today.

Also...
Never accept a CC to get them off the phone thinking you will never activate it and therefore wont care. Most CC companies now AUTO-activate your card after a set period of time, whether you call into the activation number or not.

And why is that bad? Your overall 'potential' debt load counts against you on loans. So if you have 5 open cards each with a limit of 20k, then your risk is rated at 100k even if you only have a history on one.

They could have put that $15 on there thinking you would use the card, which is de-facto activation, and all the fees go back.

They sure do play their games. It's no wonder so many people are piled up in it.
