Help- What does this fit?

Couple of weeks ago after giving the bike a good cleaning, i found this rubber cap on the ground-i have been all over my 1150 & cannot find where this fits
Just came back from dealer & the service tech & mechs don't know...
It's starting to drive me crazy. Any help greatly appeciated.

I think I have it!
I believe this is the little cover that goes on the front brake hydraulic "junction box" (for lack of a better term) just to the side of the steering head.
Facing your bike from in front, just to the left of the steering head you will see this junction, where the brake line from the handlebar comes in and a line to the front brakes goes out. Where the "line in" connects (the one on the top) you should see a round receptacle (I think it's used in bleeding the brake lines)--the cover goes over this.

It might be a replacement timing hole cover. Mine is the original and it doesn't have writing on it that I can see, but it's about the right size. See if your timing hole is open and if it fits in it.

You were dead on the brakeline junction for bleeding.
Thanks , i was a little miffed when the mechanics didn't
have a clue.
I'll sure be more careful scrubbing the bike down from now on

Glad to hear I was right (for once). Everyone on this board has helped me and now it was my turn.
Not a critical part, I'm sure. And that's from someone who typically finds an extra washer or nut on the garage floor when I'm done with a mechanical project!

Just to muddy the waters...never saw that part myself, but FTE 24 is also the designation for a halogen reflector bulb.
