Exhaust dilemma and a windshield question.....

Post by marousek »

Hey guys.....

First on a lighter note. Just funny how things work..... I finally took the plunge, got a shiny exhaust tip, took off the factory exhaust, flipped the shield.....woala.....done.....she sounds soooo much better that I regret not doing it ont he first day......

But now.....I took the can, some Neverdull and shined up the can for future use.......now it looks so nice and shiny that I want it back on......

Choices coices choices.....

Now to my question on the shield.....I really thing windshields ruin the look of our rides.....but I found one that might look good.....but not sure how functional it may be.......

Did any of you try or looked at one of those? Any feedback?

Take a look:

Looks about the same overal height as the Wunderlich screen which my bike came with. Just about deflects the air blast for me (6' 2") at 90 mph.

Somewhere Riceburner did a thread about making a screen that looks pretty much like that one.

That's a 'Laminar Lip' screen...and Marku just got one, so I'm also wating to hear how he likes it...as I'd like to try one...I have the BMW screen, but do not use it, as it creates even more noise, and I have got used to the air without it...for me it's more about noise...if it is quiter than the other windows, I'm interested...

I agree that a windshield mucks up the Rockster's looks, but I can't freeway ride w/o my Parabellum short screen. W/ it, I can ride @ 90 mph all day.

Screens do ruin the look - I find that cruising at 80 on the speedo is easy peasy..........no wind roar or turbulance that screens seem to give. So 80 is OK, besides any faster and the feds have a heart attack over here in the US. I do find that the 'spoiler' over the clocks actaully knocks a lot of breeze off anyway.

eerugh - I hate the way that thing looks.

I've used an old helmet visor in the past and it works very well. :)
