It's not a "bad" looking bike but I like my 1150 better. Without the oil cooler wings, it's just not the same. Not crazy about the rest of the tank either. Looks like they are trying to be "edgy" with the creases. Naaahhh, I'll keep mine.
P.S. That oil cooler looks like fun to keep clean too!

I like it!
Except for a few petty styling things. The instrument cluster looks like it is just floating out there in space. Looks kinda cheesy. I actually like the tank profile. Without the coolers the bike looks lighter. I do wonder about keeping that new cooler safe and clean, though. I imagine the bike will look better in person, like the R1150R, but I think the headlight also looks a little cheap.
Overall, I think it's pretty cool.
My R will be paid off this year. Sounds like a good time to trade her in. We'll see, though. I have to see this one in person.

I have put 2000 miles on my new-to-me 2004 1150r mostly with in town commute. The only part of the bike I have had to clean is the front of the crank case (?) just behind the front wheel. Why would anyone want to put an oil cooler there!??!

I think I want that matte finish silver one, but with a blacked out engine like my ferro blue. Now that would be HOT!

Generally, I like it.
- Love the new rear wheel drive-arm. Sleek. Like the anti-torque arm being above the hub.
- Like the rear taillight styling
- Tank styling is nice - A bit unique and kinda cool
- The Beak is dead, long live the Beak!
- Oil cooler is fine, they have been in that location on various bikes for a long time. I would miss the "jet intakes" and the warmth the oil coolers provide in cooler weather.
However, a couple of turn-offs:
- Instrument cluster.... looks out of place. Make it sleeker/streamlined if you are going to stick it up like that. At least they blacked it out.
- Fluid Reservoirs on handelbars... what were they thinking.... looks like a dirt bike! May be more practical, but yuck!
- A bit more plastic in the side panels to hide the frame - Again, too much like a dirt bike.
- Getting too much like a dirt/sport bike as well... looks like you can forget about any adult passengers with that height and level of rear seat padding...
Don't they have a R1200S for the sport bike crowd?
Seems like the lighter weight would make it less pleasant on the highway..... going fast... in a gusty crosswind..... don't think the steering damper completely makes up for the missing mass
It does look pretty sweet, but I think I can resist. By the time I am ready for another bike, they should have a hover-mode.

Pretty cool !!
If I wasn't on retirement income, I'd be trading up a lot sooner than 2 or 3 years from now.
Have a look at the new R1200R and a lengthy description at
Bob's BMW .
