Alarm System Suggestions???

Okay...my paranoia (or maybe it's because I feel the love) is getting the best of me, and I've decided that I ought protect my ride...my sweet little R1150R...like one of my children... So, any suggestions on a quality alarm system....perhaps one that will lock the ignition/motion detection...I"ve seen a few here and there on Ebay, not sure they're up to quality. Never had an alarm on any machine I've owned, but something tells I should now....
Your help gives me better sleep at night....

A big chain
Alarms won't stop it being lifted into that white van, it'll just annoy the lo-life stealing it until the battery goes flat

I was looking at the scorpion, but the dealer suggested the stock BMW alarm....he made the price worth while and so far so good.......

So true about the chain!
Also make sure you chain the thing to something BIG and HEAVY. Also wrap the chain to go through the chassis/frame somehow. I wrap a chain through the telelever (wishbone???) and the front wheel and another one through the rear wheel and the curved frame part where the rear passenger footrest goes on the right hand side. And finally - a bastard of a disk lock on the front wheel. In a garage. With the bike alarm.
I know I should put a ground anchor, but can't be bothered.
I sleep very well.

Where I come from, bike alarms are like fashion accessories too. Remote control auto start, motion sensors etc ..... it's amazing.

After replacing many (expensive) dead batteries on my customer's alarmed SportBikes, I would say either get one that is self powered -or- add a small 4Amp-Hr 12V second battery with a marine isolator so the alarm drains only it's dedicated battery and the bike only charges (does not use) the alarm's battery.
The problem with alarm systems is the radio transmitter/receiver is "on" all the time when armed and it's constant parasitic drain can harm a battery after 2 weeks of rider inactivity. The coolness and convience of that little remote arm/disarm transmitter will cost you.

I use the Elser Spyball which is installed by the local BMW as an alternative to the very expensive BMW alarm.
This particular alarm turns itself into a standby mode when the bike hasn't been used for 7 days in order to preserve the bike battery...
Once the stanby mode has been activated, you need to go through a wakeup stage with the ignition key to turn the alarm back on and disable the immobilizer...
All of the above in theory, I never had to do this in reality
