I finally downloaded my track log from the Beakster Bash. Here's a screenshot of the overview in Google Earth (Marietta, OH is in the lower-left corner under the "26"):
You can download the .gpx file and open it with Google Earth. Just right click the link below and "Save Link As" or "Save Target As" (depending on your browser). Once you have the file saved locally, launch Google Earth, do a File->Open and select the .gpx file.
Ok, I'm guessing the Mac keyboard still has the "squiggle" key. It looks like a hash mark/pound sign with loops at the corners. It may even have an apple logo on it.
You might be able to hold that key down and click the .gpx link with your one and only mouse button to get a pop-up menu that might let you save the file locally.

In GE on the left side under "Places" drill down in the Temporary Places folder until you get to the path and select it (single click). Then click the play button.
How can I get my upcoming trip mapped out like that? I didn't check the link since I didn't ride in the Bash, it wouldn't have meant much to me, but is this a program free on the internet you are using? Or do I need to buy software for it?
This is just a way to view the "track log" from a gps after you've ridden around somewhere. I think the newer software from Garmin will save track logs as .gpx files after they're uploaded from the GPS to your computer. I hae to use another free piece of software called "GPSBabel" to convert my Magellan .trk files to .gpx, just one extra step.
Google Earth is free and highly recommended. It is good for planning routes but doesn't interact with your GPS software for uploading info from GE to your GPS. Most route planning is done in the proprietary software for your brand of GPS receiver (GPSr) such as Mapsend or Mapsource if it's Magellan or Garmin.
BTW, I didn't mean the bash didn't mean much to me (I enjoyed the posts afterwards) I meant since I didn't go to it, seeing the routes you took wouldn't be something I could relate to. I hope that clarifies that statement.

I know what you mean - those lines don't mean much to me either looking at it that way (but it is cool). All that I know is we had some great days riding twisty roads in a great part of the country; they seemed like a never-ending rollercoaster.
