Warranty Procedures

Just wondering what proper warranty procedures are.

If you have an issue you believe should be covered under warranty and your service manager says it isn't... What is the proper procedure?

Should you get something in writing from the dealer? From BMW? What is the chain of command? Who's above a service manager?

I have a feeling I'm getting the runaround from the service manager at the dealership in my town.

Call BMW

Call BMW Motorrad North America (# in the owner's manual).

What I would do is have one last talk with the service manager and discuss your options with him. If that's (likely) not satisfactory, then inform him of your intention to contact BMW NA for assistance and a review of your case.

If after all that...several weeks perhaps, you aren't happy with BMW, then contact your State Consumer affairs/Vehicle affairs department and file, etc.

Sorry this has to happen. It is neither smooth nor satisfying, but it can yield results.

Thanks... I'm trying to give the local guy a chance... Funny, I started requesting copies of things in writing and he suddenly became a bit more cooperative... ;-)
