turn signal leds in amber?

I am running with the clear lenses and amber bulbs...also plan on getting the signal minder and like the running light feature! With that said, has anyone ever seen the led bulb clusters that replace the 1157 lights themselves but in amber...All I seem to find is red. This would run very cool and be brighter, so any ideas on who might sell em?

Thanks

Hi
Not sure where you are (I am in Australia) but I just ordered amber LED's here http://www.ledshoponline.com/motorcycle_leds.htm. The amber ones are $10 aust , less in US dollars.
Thanks to MIXR for the tip.

thanks for info.

MRB, I dont see amber on the site ur mentioned? Just yellow...Did u buy the single pin? Guess that would save me having to grind off the offset pin.

Hmmm. Yellow/amber.
I did not think that would be too different and they sell the yellow as replacements for indicators. Will have mine in 24 hours or so and I will install and let you know.

OK they just turned up and this will teach me to double check things.
I have had the R1150R only for a few days and had not looked at the globes in the clear lensed indicators.
The pins are not horizontal, in line but in a V shape. Where do they come up with these ideas?? I used to be in the auto electrical business some years ago and have never seen these before.
I now have 4 yellow LED clusters that I cannot use - perhaps in the car.

MRB, no worries, thats how my regular amber bulbs came from the dealer,,just grind off the one side with a file and its all good...I had to do it for both of mine! Its tiny and files off within seconds...

What I've seen that I've been very interested in is Nippy Norman's (I think its Nippynorman.com), a British retailer, had led lights that also had a few red leds, so that your turn signals would also function as brake lights. Have no idea if its ABS compatible, or if its signal minder compatible, but thought it would be great.

I got blue ambers from Auto Barn.com. When they are off, they are blue, on, amber.

OK- thanks SilverR. I filed the pin off and fitted them. Dissapointing and I am going back to the original incandescent amber lamps. I think a big part of the problem is the indicator lamps mount sideways and the LED units put all the light straight out. They were no where near as good.
The tail/brake light LED was OK. Not brighter as such but a deeper red and if for no reason other than longer life and reliability I will use the LED there.
I must get an additional LED brake light unit though.

MRB, good to know, thanks for the feedback! bummer to hear they did not work out as well. I have considered the supplimental brake light led also.

Question about directionality

I am probably wrong here but, my understanding was that LEDs are highly directional. Meaning, that unless the LED ends are pointed out directly to the front or rear, they are nearly invisible. That being said, the incandescent signal bulbs point to the side laterally because they can still be seen from teh side, but LEDs that merely replace that bulb are also pointing out to the side, and hard to see from the rear or front. That's why HyperLites are an additional module that has the LED ends pointing back or front, IN ADDITION to the regular bulbs.

Or is there another type of replacement bulb that I just haven't seen?

That link I posted above, if you search around a bit, has LED bulbs with a 90-degree turn in them...

I'm not sure that LED's are all that great...

the way they are so..directional..just a bit to the side and they're not as bright a normal bulbs..which btw..I have no problem with.. :D

Check out Load Equalizers for Custom Applications also at J&P. Seems to indicate load equalizers are required when bulbs are replaced by LEDs. Go to
http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.as ... 1FD74905E6

Seems like a neat idea, but a $50 led?
