Lost my mileage... console replacement warning.

I had a real problem with the LCD panel fading out to the point of being unreadable whenever it had direct sunlight or ambient heat for too long. I had the entire console replaced under warranty and the new LCD display is an updated one that is a bit higher resolution and much easier to read....
However... I lost my accumulate mileage. BMW said this should not happen but it did. It seems really odd to me that it should be this easy for a less than honest person to eradicate mileage. Morton's says they will talk with some folks at the BMW to see if it can be fixed. If not, it will my first adventure with keeping track of a second ODO.
