I have an Italian-manufactured Beretta 92F which was my service weapon when I was a federal agent (I was a firearms instructor, so I could qualify with and carry my personal weapon), and a S&W Model 60 I used as a backup weapon. The Model 60 has a broken hammer spur - years ago it came out of my shoulder rig on Pennsylvania avenue right in front of the White House when I was doing a protective advance for then-Soviet Foreign Minister Scheverdnadze. Although the weapon was loaded, the hammer block did it's job and it did not discharge. I also have a Model 65 fixed-site stainles steel .357 revolver, which I bought when I was an NCIS agent many years ago and have kept mostly as an impact weapon all these years.

Really nice! I still prefer 9mm - just seems easier to control! But, 40 cal has got to have some great kinetic energy!

My son Clint is going deer huntint for the first time Monday. Here in Ohio deer (gun) season is limited to shotguns (firing slugs) or heavy caliber pistols. We have been kicking around the thought of getting a heavy hunting revolver just for deer hunting.

It makes sense here in Ohio. One reason high powered rifles are not premitted is because of the range these weapons have and the relative lack of large uninhabited spaces, compared to our neibors to the south and east. The woods of SE Ohio are very thick and most shots are taken inside 50 yards, anyway. A pistol, even a heavy one, will be easier and safer to carry it the thick brush.

I thought offensive images were barred from this site.

Nice choice Ken, that is a very nice , reliable and compact weapon. I had a Taurus (Brazilian made) copy of BobFV1 92F and I liked it.

Today, I'm partial to the 9mm by way of a Glock Model 19.......

The USP .40 is the next handgun on my list. The problem is too many lists, and not enough time/money.

I have a P2000US LEM in .40SW and a P7M8 in 9mm. Next is a P2000SK - also LEM. I have five Glocks (G17, G19, G21, G23, G26, and G27) but since I got into HK's they don't come out as often. I am a lefty and whereas the Glocks were modified to be very lefty-friendy, the two HK's are fully ambi out of the box. Try the LEM variant before you buy another. - Lee

I've only fired a small pistol once, but handled my fathers old target pistols (Webley revolvers IIRC) once or twice before he handed them in.

There's something very special about handling a well made gun. Such simple pieces of machinery, made to such close tolerances are things of engineering beauty.

Riceburner, I'm ignorant of gun policies in the UK. That being said, its my understanding that you can't own anything other than a shotgun? One of my bosses was from England, during that time I was into reloading. When I mentioned to him the number of rifles, pistols and shotguns I had, in addition to the several pounds of powder, 1000's of primers & brass, he just stared at me with his mouth agape and asked me if I was a survivalist. I laughed and told him no but that if he heard of me building an underground shelter in my backyard, to call the men with the funny white jackets.

Currently yeah I think shotguns are virtually the only things a fully-licensed owner can have in his securely locked and hidden away gun-cupboard.

Legal ownership of pistols and anything else was banned after the Dunblane incident. (A fully-licensed owner went a bit mad and invaded a school and shot several kids and a teacher ). Our freedom loving government ( ) decided that even fully-licensed gun club members couldn't be trusted...



Guess what.... Gun crime has risen.

I STILL lust for a H&K squeeze-dingle. I remember once creating a ragged hole from 25 yards with a compact "squeeze-dingle"(!!!) Of "B.R.A.S.S.", that 'Surprise!' part put all my shots where I wanted 'em..... I still can't believe bringing that target in only to be greeted by a magical cluster of 9mm-made holes.

I'm sorry that you find these machines (guns are just another machine) offensive. I find people who post without signing in offensive.. You start signing in and explain why you feel these machines are offensive, and I'll quit posting pictures of them..

I carry a SW .40, all the time. I have a L-frame SW .357 for home defense and a pistol grip Mossberg 500 12 gauge as a back up. Not fond of the 9MM round. The hydostatic shock of the .40 and the .357 gets the job done. I hunt Javelina with a 12 inch barreled Dan Wesson .357 with a scope, its up close and personal hunting.
