Just seen this in the Rockster section, deserves to be here as it seems to be an R1150R custom, nice.

I'm still investigating those fork shrouds: are they made or bought? I don't speak the language the film was made in, but it's obvious at one point that he's talking about them - does anyone speak Spanish/Portuguese/Greek/whatever it is?


I also rather like the exhaust tip/stubby.

Nice work, though he could have nixed the stock “bread box” exhaust.

Always been curious about the wrapped exhaust pipes. I don't understand it's history or if there's a reason for it beyond it's *look*. I'm guessing that it has something to do with insulating for higher exhaust temperature? Or not- I could be totally wrong!

What if the exhaust pipes weren't in top shape any longer? Corroded or whatever. Wrap them. And the whole bike just looks cool.
I like the looks, but it's not very practical. Typical Dutch reaction by the way.

It's an interesting look for sure, just never understood where it started. If I had to venture a guess I'd think there was some kind of racing where the engine guys thought wrapping the pipes made the bikes go faster?

Until GP bikes have it , then its just part of the "Steam punk" look. Only fit for Har**ys.

Ok, while the increased temp/exhaust scavenging idea is an interesting one it seems more of a 'style' thing. I think it looks interesting, though I probably wouldn't do it as it seems that the look is not well suited for a stock bike imo.- better suited to something that's been modded to look a little grittier and less refined.
