My next ride: a 150 mph, 13.6 mpg SUV
My wife and I took a test ride yesterday in what hopefully will soon be the latest addition to my toybox: a 1965 Cessna 182H Skylane. Hopefully the pre-buy inspection, title search, and the financing will go as smoothly as the flight. The most significant and difficult test has been passed: she likes it! Wish me luck with the rest of the details.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

Mid 60's Cessna 182..good choice..good ass airplane.
Have the Mechanic check the tail for corrosion real good, seen and fixed many where the ribs were totally gone.
Having done a number of pre-buys, I make it the same scope and detail as an annual, with the added benefit of a new annual.
Have fun, and good luck....Roger

Ditto what jamming said. Those are great planes but the only drawback is corrosion. You are near salt water and it can be assumed the plane was for at least most of its life so that goes double. Check especially under the upholstery and under the floor. Put an annual into the deal and insist the A&P checks all of it out (you'ld be suprised how much is not checked normally)
I think I found the model I'll likely buy. I was talking to the owner of Rans Aircraft Co. last week at the AOPA Expo and was pleasantly suprised to find the S-7 Courrier is now offered fully assembled and certified. Just right to teach Sport Pilot in!
Good luck with your purchace, Mark
