hall sensor rebuild

Hello again,

After searching a long time on various sites I did find one thread that gave an email [email protected]

He was rebuilding hall sensors with upgraded wiring, or would send the parts for you to do your own

Being a life long platinum member of CBOA (cheap bastards of America), I am looking for a source to get this part cheap as possible.

I am aware of beemer boneyard, and the euro parts place that sells the new one.

Anyone have any info for something less expensive?

I remember reading about the hall effect sensor failures a few years ago and remember a fellow rider experiencing this at a rally in Pa. He rode thru a pretty big puddle of water after/during a rainstorm on his way to the rally. Apparently causing the failure. I also remember a thread about rebuilding the sensor with parts from Honeywell but I'll be darned if I can find it now. Unless you can find another source of info the above link might be your best bet. Good luck. If you find something else please let us know as we all may experience this at some point in the future. My R is an '04 with 85K and I'm like you.....I'm tight with $$.

Doing some sifting around I found this report, in which after many tries the rider discovered (claims) the wiring is the only problem, and the sensors last a lifetime ( which sounds likely as the above link offering a lifetime warranty as long as your own the bike, makes sense)

Long-time pro-wrenchers of these bikes in the UK all confidently assert that the HE unit fails only because the wiring to it degrades and goes high resistance, buggering-up the job which the unit is tasked with. Take a luke at the web sites of the various Beemer parts specialists who ship just the new wiring bits from the UK to The Land of the Pre-Trump Free.
Sellers like Motorworks, MotoBins - and also James Sherlock in lovely Devon where they eat cream teas with strawberry jam and clotted cream ladelled onto freshly-baked scones....
