BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

I have a couple of hand guards with LED floods in them. Looking to connect them to a switched source, preferably in the head light housing.
They are small enough to not need a relay.
Can someone enlighten me as to where to connect them?

By switched do you want to be able to switch them off completely? Or simply run in tandem with the headlamp and then they go off with the ignition switch?

Hopefully I'll have more time to look at my shop manual when I get home from work this evening.

Just looking for a 12 volt source that is active when the ignition is on and/or the motor is running.
The schematic I have does not show any wiring for any of the lights, even turn signals...odd.

In my headlight housing (still stock, but soon it won't be the OEM headlight ) there are (next to the H4 connector) a plus and minus available.
Perhaps your bike has the same already available. Mine are switched on and off with the ignition key.

Sorry I didn't respond last eve, long day and fell asleep in the chair. I was going to say the same thing as EasyBee. Very good example with the picture. That's the easy source of power and I doubt the slight additional current would create any issues. I also run some LED running lights and the low current draw considering the amount of light output is incredible. It's also so much easier to add additional lights on our pre-canbus system bikes. I understand it's not quite as easy with the newer bikes.

Yes, I should have popped off the Headlight before posting.;(
I unplugged the useless little running light bulb below the H4. Crimped two insulated male blade connectors , plugged into the light harness and ran it back out the shell. Will post pics when finished.

Those look awesome! I have the same color and similar setup bike but I may have to replace current handguards with this product.

Thanks, they are nice. I did add shrink tubing to the wire harness into the light fixtures. Odd that they left 6 inches of exposed wire and sheathed the rest. I also may add a small spoiler on the top for better coverage. I did ride it in some cold temps to test them as is.
I guess I should re-title the thread LED hand guards.
