Since I bought the bike ('02 r1150r) I've ridden it at least twice/week and always put it on the battery tender in the garage.
A couple days ago I disconnected the tender thinking I was about to ride but then something pulled me away for a couple hours and when I went to ride it wouldn't start.
I tried to jump start it and heard a loud pop but no start.
The shop isn't open until today and if it were to be ready today, best case scenario, I would have lost 4 days/opportunities to ride.
That's actually unusually long for me not to ride.

How do you deal with a bike in the shop and/or in the garage awaiting parts:
a) I don't need to frequently ride, it gets fixed when it gets fixed.
b) Spare bike, same make/model/year range so I don't lose a step.
c) I alternate between two differing bikes, e.g. a chopper and a sport bike, to enjoy variety
d) Bike rental
e) Other

I work on my own stuff, and just seeing it in pieces in the garage for a day makes me lose my mind. If I had to leave it....and trust someone who doesn't know my bike. I would be gutted.

For you, I genuinely hope its quick and relatively painless.

I likewise work on my own bikes, but when no stock on parts at the dealer, I just use one of the other bikes .

I only have one bike, and up until a couple of weeks ago, I didn't have a car, so any work on the bike entails either making sure it's all done over a weekend (bike used mainly for commuting). In the past I've borrowed bikes from family (my entire family rides, luckily!), but now that I have 4 wheels it's less of an issue.

^ yeah I have a 2006 Dakota 4x4 that is in dire need of attention. I never fix it because I only drive it like 2000 miles a year lol The power steering pump is LOUD-needs replaced. front end squeaks like mad... rear fenders are cancered with rust. Which I attempted to fix but just delayed the rust. they're shot. lol CV joints I think are goin'.

but it gets me to work when I cant ride due to bike repairs and from December to March because BRRRRR. so oh well.

I own 2 bikes! A vintage 84 Honda Nighthawk S. I got historic plates, so there are no yearly registration fees in my state.
But, it just snowed, I got no bike. Having a bike in the shop when it's snowing, is not so hard to take.
