This is a comment by a member of FEMA, at the L.A. Sheriff's Office.

"We're going back to the drawing board. With an earthquake or a major terrorist attack, we'd obviously have no warning. We haven't looked at mass evacuation or temporary housing for hundreds of thousands of people."

Just a thought, perhaps using the ex-military bases? This may be a better idea than turning them into other uses. One could still use the vast areas of the bases for, housing, parks, etc. The barricks kept for emergency housing.

The bases are already being used... not the deactivated ones, but ones that have empty barracks.

The problem is that you still need infrastructure. Maintenance, food, schools, etc. Decommissioned bases are also notorious for health (asbestos, lead, etc) and safety problems in its buildings.

At the active bases they are using, they are piggy-backing the evacuees on top of caring for the service men and women.

Good thinking though! We need more people like you!
