I searched but couldn't find this.
Has anyone used other than the BMW provided oil in their rear drive and what are the thoughts on using other oils. I've been using the Beemer stuff for 100,000+ but I'm thinking of going to Red Line. I use Red Line in all my other bikes with good results.

I've not used anything different, however my $.02 worth is any quality lubricant that meets the spec should be fine for the change interval specified. Go for it.

I've always used Mobil Delvac 75W90 in the rear drive and trans. I figure if it's good enough for the high loading and shock loads of trucks and off road equipment it's good enough for me. It's also not a LS oil which is something I didn't want in the rear drive.

I've been using Liqui-Moly full synthetic 75W90 weight gear oil for thousands of miles. It's included in the maintenance kits I purchase from Beemer Boneyard. I use it in the transmission too. No specific reason other than convenience and cost savings and they give a discount if you enter "advrider" at checkout.

any decent 75w90.. I have no allegiance to Brand for gear oil. just prefer non synth and change often. I even used the cheap walmart stuff for awhile while dealing with a leaky transmission. Use same thing for FD I use in the gearbox.

Been using Royal Purple in everything. Engine, trans, rear.
