Having previously been pampered with fly-by-wire throttle I'm finding the 12R throttle rather heavy in operation. Is there a way of easying the required twist? Lighter throttle return springs?

Actually, adding some constant drag may seem counter-intuitive, but it eases old arthritic hands keeping the throttle open.

An adjustable drag like a KAOKA may work for you, but best I found was a thin (1/16" thickness) about 5/8" diameter O ring behind the bar end weight works well. A thin washer may be needed under the bar-end mounting point to make the drag light enough. A bit of silicone grease on the O ring helps, and they've lasted > 50,000 miles on my R1200R.

You may find that increasing the diameter of the throttle grip (Grip Puppies, BMW Buddies, et al) is also helpful.

I use a simple throttle lock like in the photo, got it for christmas. think it was 20$ Stops on the brake lever, or even the mirror stalk on my 1150. it doesn't always hold forever...but that's fine, I use it just to give my hand a break for a minute at a time on slabs.

One of our local members found spring loaded jumbo clothes pins - that work just like the rather expensive one above. Cost was $1/each. He bought a bunch and handed them out to club members.

I have a blue one Don. I think he paid $1 for six of them, mine served me very well on the way home from the National.

BTW: Being an old Guzzi rider I have to say the effort to hold open the throttle on a R1200R has to be almost zero. Try holding the throttle back on a pair of DellOrto pumpers for any length of time and you end up with wrists like Popeye. Just saying.
