Oil pump is gear driven?

My oil pressure light is on. I know there is plenty of oil, Just did an oil change. I want to be sure their is not an electric oil pump that has failed. This is an '03.

mine did too, and i saw oil was low in sight glass. it turned out it was an oil pressure switch that needed replacing.

The Pressure sensor is cheap enough, I'll just replace it.

I replaced the oil pressure sensor, still the light is on. Last fall I installed a clutch hub spacer to get full engagement on the input shaft splines, I must have goofed something up.

The OilHead's pressurized oiling system is premium quality and historically bulletproof. That is not so with the wire leading to the oil pressure switch. If the wire insulation gets worn away from chaffing contact with an Aluminum or steel part and the exposed copper wire shorts to ground, the oil light goes on. It's also possible with a wire break in the front wire harness loop, under the headlight, contacting another broken/chaffed wire with an electrical load on the other end. Try moving the steering lock-2-lock and messaging the front wire harness with the engine running to see if the oil light flickers or goes off. Finally, check the metal wire restraint clips that clamp on the cylinder fins and engine case.

Thanks CycleRob! I doubt it's the harness, the zip ties were clipped at 8,000 K.
