Ok gang, just need to vent. Last ride was around Dec. 20th or so. For the last two months it's been too cold to even do bike work in the garage.

Spring, please sing! Livin in the NE.

Ok. Feel better now-thx all...

I was riding regularly until about a month ago, then the curtain came down. Worse, the roads are in the worst condition I've seen in years. Bummer.

I lived in SoCal for 15 years when younger. Don't wanna go back. Wine country sounds good-Sonoma area-as long as you have $600k for a shack that would be big enough to hold the bike:)

exactly. I was born and lived in San Jose until I was 13. loved it....

FANTASTIC place to visit. But coming from the outside, you gotta really want it these days.

I actually had to pass on job offer out there, not because of earthquakes. It was nearly double the $ I make here.... Near san fran.... still not enough LOL TO find a house Id feel "comfortable" with the mortgage on, id be driving 1.5hrs+ to work. I just cant give up the open space I have here....

I think the Mrs. and I will rethink when the kiddos are grown and gone.... 8) she loves it there, but, then again, shes lived here her whole life, so its a cool new thing for her. :D

the thing I always laugh at though.... people from THERE call Iowa "flat and boring" or "nothing but corn" Um, Have you ever driven on the 5 through the valley? "oh, look, another orchard"

The wife and I are considering maybe an Arizona New Mexico thing. Prices are reasonable. I work virtually so technically I could work just about anywhere. We'll see. It's easy to consider when it's below 6 degrees outside with 9 inches of snow packed on an inch of ice.

Stay away from Rhode Island and Massachusetts. If the snow is not falling then it's sitting on your roof freezing and breaking through. My bike is out in the driveway under a BMW all-weather cover and a tarp. I can't see any of it now with all the snow.

My buddy in LA calls me with the daily forecast there - 78 degrees and sunny, everyday.

If nothing else, the snow and cold really getcha yearning for (and appreciating) temps above 50 degrees!!

Not me, one of the best winter riding conditions here in south central Aridzona .
For most of the winter, temps have been 10-15 degrees above normal and virtually no precipitation .
I lived in the Chicago area for 37 years, that's why I reside in a low desert now, but summers can be hellish for riders not accustomed to 105-115 F temps .

We do not typically get much snow so we don't really have the snow removal equipment and supplies. We've had our fair share of show and ice this season unfortunately. It's slowly melting and should melt completely this week. However, looking at the amount of sand that's been laid down, I'm not sure when I'll feel good about getting out on my bike. Lots of sand in the intersections. I'm sure it will take the city quite a while to get the street cleaners around.

50 degrees here today with lots of sun. I just pulled the cover off the bike and getting ready for a ride. It's been about 3 weeks here since the last decent day for riding. Probably still 6" on the ground but the roads are clear.

you can see the sun higher in the sky, and warm moist breezes. And heard birds chirping this morning.....

SOON. 8)

at 20 it is still freezing down to my bones, but every tunnel has an exit. high 40's in the forecast.

Well maybe not. Battery is dead and has been on a tender. Some investigation is in order!

Charged the battery enough to start the bike, then took it for about an hour's ride. Then put it back on charge using a "smart" charger and I guess 3 or 4 hours later it was fully charged and the "smart charger" said the battery was full and in good health. The charger somehow can tell if you i the battery has a dead cell, sulfated cell, etc. Not sure how it does this other than reading voltage. Anyway went out to run errands in the evening (truck) and when I got home thought I'd see if the battery held up. The battery spun the motor just fine, all lights proper, fuel pump came up to pressure etc, but no start. Too tired to mess with it last nite so like I earlier said more investigation is in order!

Motorcycle ownership...........it's for those who have too much idle time.

edit..8:45am........Apparently the kickstand safety switch was stuck. Worked it up and down a time or two and all is good now!

good deal.

love/hate it when its something simple. 8)

reminds of a funny note. when I bought my R, they had it sitting out front...i had taken a test ride. SO when papers were signed, It was ready to go. Jumped on start, walk it backwards to leave...shift into gear... dies. repeat 3 or 4x. I got quite worried....

well...I was so excited to finally be buying this bike.......kickstand.

look around make sure nobodys lookin at me... take off.

When I test rode my bike for the first time, I was a little nervous since I'm 5'6" and wasn't used to not flat-footing the bike. Was on a slight incline as well. Couldn't figure out where the kickstand was and couldn't really see it. Finally had to ask the owner to kick it up for me! :| Also quickly discovered it had grabby brakes (which I have subsequently fixed) and I about threw myself over the handlebars the first time I touched them. Awesome start.

But good to know about the kickstand switch. Would take me a while to think to look at it. Probably why other bikes have a sidestand switch indicator.
