Is Victory preparing to kick Harley's butt?

I just perused Victory's website for its upcoming model year. Holy cow, are they getting ready to make a statement! Given all the movement toward fat tires and outlandish paint schemes in the custom crowd, the Vegas Jackpot and Hammer models come stock with 250mm rear tires, chrome wheels, and colors to hold their own in a sea of Big Dog, OCC, and WCC choppers. While for the sake of avoiding litigation they're avoiding the raked out front ends, the rest of these models look like they're one-offs.
It's been a long time since the V92C was the only thing you could buy from Victory. It's nice to see such competition coming on the scene.

As cruisers go, I really like their designs. Even though I think Ness is the Liberace of motorcycle accessories, i even like the signature series.
The cool thing about Victory is the long history of solid engineering and engine design that Polaris brought to the table. Victory is relatively new to motorcycles in the grand scheme, but I would trust one of their engines to be very well built.
Add the merger with KTM and I think there is a bright future in store. We all get to benefit.

I considered a Victory briefly, the basic "8ball" looked pretty good to me. But while their styling/geometry is a little "over the top" for me, I was impressed by the apparent build quality. I absolutely agree that Victory is poised to give H-D serious competition, especially in light of upcoming requirements regarding emissions equipment.
I bought an '06 Dyna about a month ago, I had read about the improvements that had been made and have to say it seems to be a pretty good bike. I don't know if I can ever get used to the seating position, I like to be able to stand up on the pegs and stretch periodically and that's all but impossible on the Dyna. I'm leaving in a day or two on a 5 or 6 day ride, we'll see if the Dyna is an all-day bike or not...

I'm not the cruiser type (never say never and all that...), but I am impressed with the Victory lineup and their quality and engineering, fit & finish, etc.

And don't forget that Victory, Polaris industries, just bought 25% of KTM.

I know what you mean. I'm hoping the HD VRod's mid-pegs option goes over well. If Victory made a bike with a mid-peg option, and I'd be really tempted to buy one.
