Routing of fuel tank vent tubes

Hello Folks - I purchased a 2008 r1200r that had a bad abs unit. I removed the fuel tank and the abs unit and sent the abs out for repair. Now I am ready to put the tank back on the bike. My question is this. I see two vent tubes on the right side of the tank. One of the vent tubes had a hose connected that runs to the bottom of the bike. This tube had a piece of tape on it with a "T" written on it. I am assuming that this is "T" means top and it is the overflow. The other vent tube did not have a hose connected.
Is this correct or should there be a hose connected? If so what would the other end of the hose be connected to?

Hi,Rick!
On my 2012 R got two black hoses ending in parallel beside centerstand on right hand side.Never removed the tank,so I don't know about the connections under the tank.

Yes,both hoses ending under the tank.Tiewraped in parallel.

FYI: Those hoses will be different on bikes equipped with charcoal canisters (US bikes) and those without. Just saying

On Canadian bikes there is no charcoal canister.

I don't see a charcoal canister on my bike. I'm in Georgia, maybe the previous owner removed the canister. Since there is only one hose, I just run another along side to catch any overflow..

Sounds like the canister 'fell off' mine did the same thing. So the routing of the hoses would be unique to your bike.

One of the hoses is the drain from the filer cap area. And it terminates down behind the gearbox by the RH foot peg.
The other hose is a overflow or vapor line. For those who have the canister that hose goes to the canister and the canister vents to the LH throttle body.
For those of you that had the canister fall off, that second hose can terminate right by the other one. It is now just a overflow if you overfill the fuel tank.

Well, if you happen to "find" the cannister, for goodness sake REMOVE IT!

The carbon canister, if your bike has one, is right in front of the front shock. Hard to miss.
