New R1200x seating positions.

Just sat on the new R1200R an RS at the Long Beach show. The R feels pretty much the same, but the RS has a much longer reach to the bars and one leans somewhat forward. Not like a sport-bike, but more than the roadster. Interestingly, the cast aluminum bars on the RS can be removed and the R tubular handle bar installed. It looks like the grips and switch gear are the same.
Both looked like fun bikes.

Scott, Was there any difference between the R and RS as to leg room (seat to pegs)? Do you think of these two bikes as the same machine with different handlebars? Or are they really different?

I'd be interested in the answer too.
BMW's past practice has been to vary handlebar height and width, but leave the footpeg/control placement and seat the same across models. The pics of the new bikes show what appear to be the same footpeg/control placement, but different seats, although with seat heights that look identical.

I did not notice any difference in the foot pegs. The bikes are the same chassis and tank. Just the bars are different. Plus the faring. When the rep said I could put the R bars on it I did not believe it. But upon examination, the cutouts for the bars are in the triple clamp, right under the RS casting, which bolts on where the bar clamps go.

Sounds like I could put RS bars and a windshield on my R and avoid the cost of a new bike

Has anyone seen the sidecases on the new r or rs. I really like the cases on my '07 r. Photos of the new cases are concerning.
