After crazy fast riding with experienced riders on their surprisingly capable R1150RT bikes, I can only guess at how good the totally redesigned DOHC WaterBoxer RT is. There is now feedback from the front tire, power everywhere, confident/neutral/SportBike cornering prowess and ride all week comfort. According to Cycle World and MotorCyclist magazine professional road testers, it was judged to be
Really
Terrific. How about 0--60 MPH in 3.0 seconds, 60--0 in 118 ft with 43MPG?
They finally have hammered the Japanese and European competitors. See for yourself.

I would never need or buy a bike like that, but if you do and can, there is virtually NO competition for all of what it can do . . . at any price.

BMW come up with a very good bike with the 1150, 1200, 1250 series bikes .
Very capable and versatile in it's use .
Power and handling that will make you think you are a lot better rider than you may be !!!
Best decision I have made in bikes in my riding career .
I may even purchase a pre owned low mile bike if one happens to come my way, here in the Phoenix area, I see '02-'03 1150's, non ABS models for $4000 with 30,000 miles on them .

Let's hope no-one suffers from the rear shock issue that's surfaced.

That was one.
Recall in this case.

I've certainly enjoyed mine up until a week ago, when I received notice from my dealer that the rear ESA damping unit is being recalled. So I haven't ridden for a week and am experiencing withdraw symptoms (like going out to the garage every hour to sit on the bike). The Wasserboxer is a substantial improvement over the oilheads. The weather protection on the RT is wonderful.

I finally got the new shock under the recall program. I put 700 miles on the bike from the issuance of the recall until the bike went in for surgery. Aside from this unfortunate experience (being told to not ride your bike by the manufacturer two months after you buy a motorcycle is not cool), the bike is simply wonderful. The new LC boxer is a great motor that should make the new R1200R coming up next year a phenomenally sporty bike.
