Hiss / Pop on start - Also power socket

Ok, a twofer problem:

The first is that sometimes (it's intermittent) my 2004 Rockster makes a hiss or pop when starting cold in the morning. Sometimes it will be accompanied by 4-5 seconds of cranking before the bike will start. When warm the bike starts up with no noises or issues.

The second issue is that the power socket connection appears to be loose or bad so it won't accept a charge from my battery tender. I've ordered a new socket, but it may be the adapter on the tender. Has anyone experienced this and can offer any advice?

Many thanks.

That sounds like loose battery terminals . . . . which would give you both symptoms.

Thanks. I found the reason for the power socket. It was actually a connection in the battery tender adapter had come out. So now, the hiss/pop.

I guess I'll pull the tank and check the terminals.
