I found a 2002 BMW r1150r non abs model with 50k for $4500......is this a reasonable asking price....bike has saddlebags and a windshield. My other question is regarding the colr , it is listed as Piedmont Red but i can't tell from the photos is it more of a Burgundy red or a reddish red......Thanks for your input in advance.

I just bought a garage queen 03 in black with lots of Wunderlich enhancements (tank bag and cosmetic bits) with 1270 miles for 6900. Higher than book, but it was show room clean and well maintained. That was hard to shop for comparison, so I just looked at what the r1200r sells for at the dealer, and snatched this up. No warranty but essentially a new r1150r for way less than half.
I got a cover but no bags. I bought the bags and bag racks from beemerboneyard and a GIVI mount plage for monokey trunks. That set me back over 600, so figure that in with your package if the bags are important to you, that you'd go get them if you didn't have them. I'm considering a touring screen for less wind noise at the helmet so that's a value too.
I'd go have a look at it. If it's fly n buy situation get the VIN number and have a BMW dealer pull up service records, or find out his BMW dealer and find service records, so you have an idea how well it's been maintained. That to me was fortunate in finding such a low mile bike, I'll know it's properly treated. (I worked on German prepress and printing equipment for 20 years so have lots of knowledge of their engineering and manufacturing standards. They make great stuff, but do not skimp on (preventive) maintenance, or you'll pay for remediation.)
You're inspecting the seller as well. Look well at how his other possessions are stored and maintained, oil drips in the garage, kids bikes in the yard or garage? That will tell you better than words how the bike has been dealt with.
HTH!

sounds a bit high to me; for example

I also have a 2002 and the color is called sienna red I believe. I think piedmont red was the 2004 color. Could it be a 2004 model? could explain the price diff.

I've got an 04 Pedmont Red. It's not burgandy and it's not bright red, but somewhere in between, being more red than burgandy. It does look different in different settings based on sunlight,...

mine is an 02 red ABS, with bags and sport shield. I BELIEVE it is "SIENNA" red for 2002? someone correct me, I was googling about the other day and found that.
13,500 miles, just purchased for 4500 from dealer. Its got some "character and patina" lol... but soo clean. I absolutely love it.....
mine....

The red for the 2002 was darker than the red for the 2003 and 2004 bikes. My 03 was Piedmont Red.

I was just going through the paperwork for my MY 2002 R, build date May 1st 2001, which must have been one of the first 1150R's built. The colour of the bike on the original Delivery Advice from BMW Australia is stated as 'Red 3 Metallic'. If I recall correctly, the colour changed to Piedmont Red the next model year.
Cheers
