road tested the tiger the other day & really liked it & it could live with my dads GS12 no problems the engine is stunning & the handling is great.
But when I sat down & thought about it & (apoarently mine is high mileage 2002 with 22000m on the clock I dont think it is) I just could not see a totally reasonable explanation of why to swap only to pay more money cause the R does everything I want it too & more & all I have to do is service it & ride it so Im sticking with it far a few more years roll on 50000m.

While I've looked (no test rides) at other machines, nothing calls out to me, "Buy Me, Buy Me."

Now a second year version (if there is a first year version), of a naked R12 might just find me answering the call, who knows.

Im waiting for the R120R too I also think that may tempt me but weve no idea what it looks like yet so will wait n see but Im definaly having a test ride on one when it does get here

I found the power of my 1130cc Roadster to be just about..... perfect.

I can't help but think that a more perfect "perfect" could be found in the new R1200R. A little weight loss, a little more power & torque, improved final drive, improved upon electrics to gain one's confidence in the ABS'....... et cetera

I can only hope also that it's as sexy looking as it's predecessor, offers a narrower saddle where the legs reach for the ground, and shifts the weight bias a little more forward.

And BMW better start to tease us VERY SOON, in the hope that it will be made available to purchase in the VERY NEAR future.

I called Engle here in KC about trading for the Tiger and a trade
isnt going to happen, they wanted 3000 diff and I would loose the
.09 interest rate.
Besides when I get on the R it just about instantly changes my mind.

When it comes to MCs I always think the grass is greener
somewhere else and it usually isnt.
Sticking with the R

Lately I've been comparing my R1100R against everything out there. When I clean the decks around here (everything paid off) I plan to buy another bike. Been conversing with Darthrider on the subject lately Friday evenings over some cold ones. My setup is non standard in that I've got Harley pegs on the valve covers, but hey, they work on those 750 plus days when the ol' knee injury kicks in. Im keeping the powder dry until the R1200R comes out. Should be off the charts for handling and torque. Give me torque anyday. I use it all the time. Power comes in handy I have to admit. That Ducati ST3 sure feels good up in the power band. But I'll settle for pull that smile behind the ears torque. One thing for sure, the Rbike will stay. I may upgrade to the R1200R in time if it make it here to Texas. That GS is still lurking as well. But the Triumphs are getting bigger in Texas all the time. Good local dealerships really help and they have 'em.

IF they come out with an R1200R, it will be just about perfect. Look what they have done with all the new R1200 series bikes so far. Dropped a lot of weight, more torque, more power, smoother but not so smooth that it looses its R character, etc. It is just that I am told that they won't be making that bike. Then again, BMW often says they won't do something, then they do.

Just got to the 700 mile mark with my new 1200GS and it is just so fantastic it is ridiculous. And it is literally the lightest feeling bike I have ever ridden. Not the lightest bike...but the lightest feeling. Hard to believe. Has all the fantastic characteristics I loved about my R, but with NON servo asst. brakes, I have fantastic front end feel.

The question is will they make the 1200R that they say they aren't going to make, available without servos?

Will have to wait.

malcy, 22K miles on an R is not high mileage....as a matter of fact those riders that baby their bikes have it broken in about that time.......a few years back they took appart a boxer engine with 50K miles and they could barely measure any wear.........

CycleRob had his heads off at 47K miles and you could se crosshatch on the cylinders!!!!

Give me torque anyday. I use it all the time.

A "horsepower motor" is fun some of the time,

Im sorry lads But the very nearly has turned into an Ihave swapped for a tiger.

It was a hard choice to make but I liked being up higher & the engine has a lot more poke than the r & gs I tried & in the end it won my heart.

Im sorry to see the R go & if I could have afforded it I woul;d have kept the R too but I cant .

I hope you will still welcome me on the board as Ive lots of good things too say about the R
