2004 R1150R starter whine (with cheese) and You Tube video

I have 2004 r1150r 15k on it. The starter whine just started; was 'normal' and now it's got the noise.

To me this sounds like the starter its not promptly disengaging.

I browsed a few posts and it was recommended that I check the alternator belt tension if I hear a start-up wine. But -- since this is a 2004, I think this machine has the ELAST belt which non-adjustable.

I believe the upgraded belt is applicable to vehicles manufactured July 2003 and later. I have a 2004 with a June 2003 date, and it has the earlier belt. It is easy to take off the plastic cover in the front to check this - 4 screws.
