You can purchase an Ohlins semi active suspension for a GS for only $2,869.95. I wonder if they will make one for our R1200Rs?

I can tell you the one on the HP4 is in a whole other universe from what I am used to, but I am still most comfortable on my R bike.

Although different part numbers, the fiche diagrams of an '09 GS and an '09 R are very similar. If the Ohlins are as remarkable as everyone says, and this suspension swap actually works, I might need to cash in some bitcoins. Still running the factory Showa shocks w/ESA.

A quick reply from Jerry at Öhlins USA (in North Carolina):

Each system is specific to the vehicle year, make & model. There is no cross-over from one model to another in this case, sorry.

So for now, no go on the Mechatronics shocks on the R12R w/ESA.

I imagine it is a few years out as a factory option on the R1200R. Likely we will see the water boxer first (my guess).

My bike is due for a suspension upgrade. It won't be this high tech...
