Nice Ride Today

It's been in the 70s in Dallas, so my wife and I headed out on our bikes for the first decent ride in a while.

I usually take my GS on longer rides because it's so comfortable, fun and, well, it's my main bike. I've ridden the R mostly around town, with just a couple of medium length rides. Despite having the bike for about 18 months, I've really not put many miles on it (I've documented why elsewhere on the forum).

Today, I decided to take the R instead.

My R is nearly stock (per the photo), which isn't the best configuration for a lot of highway miles. It was a little tough to take for a while. But somehow I found a posture that worked for me. Not like having a windscreen, but that's both good and bad. Good because the air is always smooth. Bad because there's always a blast in the chest and the head, which is tiring.

Also, the seat is ... well ... not good. Around town, it's actually quite nice: the comfort is fine and it's nice and grippy. But for the five hour ride I did today, it definitely is not the right saddle for me.

All that said, I had a great time. The bike was comfortable for most of the ride and was great is the corners . The dynamics of the bike are outstanding. It doesn't fall into the corners, but flows into them, always in control, never doing the unexpected. It was a real pleasure to ride. My back and butt are both a bit sore, but I'll be taking it out on more rides like this for sure.

Here it is after a bit of a bath after today's ride.
