My 2005 Rockster seems to have self canceling turn signals.After 2/10 mi they turn off,at stops they will blink all day long.My dealer says that my bike does no come self canceling turn signals and that sonething is wrong.
Bike is stock with no options except for heated grips and centerstand.

Antbody else have this on their Rock??

The 'self-canelling' feature seems to be dependent on how hard you push the button.

If you give it a gentle tap, you'll get about 15 blinks. If you give it an authoritative PUSH it stays on until you hit the cancel button. At least that's been my observation.

Your dealer obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. All Rocksters have self-cancelling signals, though you'd never know that by reading the manual. I believe they shut off on the basis of a combination of time/distance, not how hard you press the button.

They come with self canceling signals, and its dependant on time and distance.

Unlikely to have anything to do with distance, just time I bet... Anyone care to get out the stopwatch? I might have time to waste tomorrow doing something just that anal...

The longest red light/ traffic jam I got stuck in while having my turn signal blink was a bout 10 minutes and it just kept on blinking.

From my observation the blinkers self-cancel in about 800 to 1000 feet of travel after activation regardless of how hard the button is pressed.

Rockster does have self-cancelling signals. But I think that it's dependent on the angle of the turn AND the speed (more than likely RPM), and the time as well. I don't think that distance is involved.

On a very tight turn (like a U-turn), the signal goes off as soon as I straightened out the bar. The signal goes off quickly when I get the RPM up high. I've tooted along for a good length of distance with the signal still on because my RPM/speed was low. The signal does time itself out, but that takes a long time. Long enough for me to cruise easily in second gear for a couple of blocks.

I have a Roadster and am very suprised that it does not have self cancelling signals (basically the same bike, right?). I know that I can get an aftermarket unit (Kisan Signalminder) that works, but am warned that because it also turns the signals into running lights that the extra current draw can mess with the anti-lock and possibly cause an ABS failure. Anyone know if the self cancelling unit on the Rockster can be fitted to a Roadster? I suspect if so, it will work better with the bikes electronics than the aftermarket unit.

I read somewhere, that the Rockster's self-cancelling turn signals are a result of the Rockster being equipped with the same guage cluster as the R1100S, with its electronic vs mechanical speedo. Sounded plausible, as the Rock indeed does have the same guages as the 1100S (save for the background colour of the tach, if I recall) but I can't swear to it.

Okay, does anyone know how to turn this feature on and off? Mine has obviously been turned off. I let a friend take a ride on mine last weekend and he spend five minutes riding around with a turn signal flashing because he couldn't figure out how to turn it off. He finally just gave up and rode anyway.

Fallingpines, I've had the signalminder on since I picked up the bike ( '02 ABS) with zero problems after 22K miles.

I want to turn it off on my bike. I think it's quite annoying that my signals turn off by themselves....

I'm in the habit of pressing the cancel button manually, even when I haven't turned on the signal in the first place! I guess I'm a little paranoid about blinking my way down the road, so I just tap the cancel button periodically...I know, I know...just a bit of my OCD kicking in!
