Leaking final drive

Hi folks,
after a lengthy tour yesterday my R1200S left me in despair! I discovered a leaking final drive ... Damn!
Fortunately I found a hint about what to do:

Anybody here experienced the same before?

Not to worry. It's the outer seal not the more expensive inner one. I rode mine almost 1,000 miles home with a worse seep (it's not a leak till it drips on the ground). The seal is $30+ and it takes about an hour to change it. A plus is you get to change your rear drive fluid if you follow the book.
I did mine with the book in one hand and it took a little over an hour (first time), now I think I could do one with the tools I carry on the bike in about the same time and if you lay the bike on the left (shift lever) side you may be able to do it without losing any fluid.

Oliver,
As Harry said - not a biggie. I've seen this before, the good part is, I haven't seen any reported repeats of this seal leaking. One thing to check is the fill quantity. Supposedly the reason BMW lowered it to 180cc's was to avoid this seal leaking when the drive gets hot and the oil expands.

Hello Don,
thanks for your reply. Maybe thats the reason why the seal was changed at a moment of time from 60.0 mmm to 59.8 mm (seen on realoem). I believe the oil quantity was reduced to minimize the effect of foam building up in the FD chamber.
I just got myself the seal from BMW today. Cost was 15 Euros (or approx. 18.50 US$). I might deal with it over the weekend.
