Mediocre headlight conversion question

Hello, new to this forum and BMWs in general. I bought a 2004 R1150R the other week and having ridden it 7 or 8 hundred miles since then, my only real pressing complaint is really the super uncomfortable seat.

But on a more trivial and ascetic level the only other thing on the bike I cannot accept is the round headlight...its just not my style. I've noticed several bikes posted in pictures of other threads on this board have a dual headlight setup similar to the R1100S, which suites my fancy. Through very limited searching on this site I wasn't able to turn up much, so I ask: what years did this light come on, and/or submodel (like the Rockster?) and is there a specific thread dedicated to a conversion from single to dual?

I'd like to switch mine out while simultaneously de-chroming the bike to get my desired look, making me a happy camper.

Any information or words of wisdom will be appreciated!

Get the Sargent seat, you'll enjoy the RR a lot more. Good luck with the headlight.

The dual asymetric headlight setup is standard on the Rockster model. I don't think the Rockster headlights are plug-n-play on the Roadster, but they may be adaptable. I use the standard low seat with an Airhawk inflatable pad. I find it pretty comfortable.

Thanks for the input guys, it is appreciated. I think I probably spend the cash and go for a Sargent (I've heard mixed things about the Corbin for this bike). I knew it would'nt be plug and play, but knowing which bike it is on helps. I guess I will keep an eye out for salvage lights from a Rockster on eBay...unless you think the paid premium is worth the price in order to see the classifieds on this site?

I always thought the dual headlights from a Buell might look good on a Roadster and they might be easier to find!

In Germany some fellow riders have modified the front of the R1150 by using the headlamp of the K1200R/F800R/R1200GS. Have a look at this: https://picasaweb.google.com/kingfreddi/Umbau0809#

But be warned, its a lot of work and is not simply bolt-on.

I too had some concerns about the original light. Not wanting
to spend more than absolutely necessary I opted to fit one of these:

Very cost-effective and a revelation as I can see so much better. HTH
