My rates are equally as high, plus I charge for travel expenses to wherever.. (hey - where is this broken driveshaft?)

Beemerboneyard had a used drive shaft for $175 but it has been sold (http://www.beemerboneyard.com/26117665803.html) maybe you can find one at Bob's BMW or call Beemer Bone yard and get on a list. Looks like driveshafts from quite a few models will fit our bikes. Also look on the GS lists maybe someone over there has an idea who could rebuild your shaft, those guys tear stuff up on a regular basis. Looks like only the universal joint is trashed (nice job by the way) and someone out there must make them. If you get the BMW MOA magazine check there for rebuilders or after market shafts.

Excuse the wise ass replys (I was about to add one) but your original post looked a little bogus. Welcome to the list and good luck getting your bike fixed.

Contact Bruno here:

http://www.brunos.us/DS%20Airheads%20Oilheads.htm

He does Spline repair and drive shaft replace/rebuild on BMWs. I had him build up and remachine both
my rear drive splines and driveshaft splines on a K75C...great work!

There was a time when you could replace the U/Js in drive shafts when they were held in with circlips, but now they stake them in makiing it either a specialist repair or the whole shaft a service replacement part - both of which cost a lot more. It's what they call progress :(
