Does anyone have any experience with this RD, and is it any good? Nice that it is designed for "outdoor" motorcycle use (rain/dust proof), but does it catch the cops???? Any advice would be appreciated on this particular device.

I have had one for a couple of years. It has served me well and has probably saved me a couple of performance awards. I don't use it to speed, but you know how that goes. Sometimes a good road and good weather can make me lose track of some things. I use it on my 2000 K1200LT and on my R1200R. I bought the visual alert and put it on the K12LT at about eye level on the fairing and it really helps as the audible can be hard to hear at highway speeds and with the stereo going. I think if you buy a new one it comes with the visual alert. I purchased the wireless audible alert module and put it in my helmet for the R1200R. It has worked well but the wire coming out of the bottom of the battery unit is pulling lose. I will eventually buy another visual alert and put it right on the top edge of the computer. I think it will be visible there. Like I said earlier the unit alerts although sometimes with short notice. Although that has happened with other brands too which could be because the radar is instant-on. There is one stretch of road that I ride often where you can see at least 6 miles . It has alerted at over a mile there. Adaptiv is now selling the version 2.0 which has some new tweaks I guess. The wiring harness is well thought out and well made. Over all I am happy with it. HTH

I considered the Adaptive, but evidently the Escort and the Valentine are much better for detecting radar. If you are really serious about the best technology, Adaptive is probably not the best choice. I am very happy with my Escort radar detector, RAM Mount, and Marc Parness visual alert.

Thanks guys. I think I will stick with my Belltronics 995. I have one in my car, and I will just get one to fit the bikes. My Belltronics has saved my ass enough times, it's not worth experimenting with another brand.

Probably a good choice. Beltronics is made by the same company as Escort. Evidently you can get a refurbished RX65 that is blistering fast for a really good price. I just wired my R1200R for my Escort 9500iX and use the same radar detector instead of purchasing multiples. Pretty easy to unplug and move from the truck to the bike.

Well, it's all hooked up and ready to hunt for Mr Policeman. I did the same set-up on my R12S (minus the GPS).

Hi,

I've got one on my Strom and it works just fine. Maybe not the ultimate range you'd be getting

with a high end Passport or V1 but works fine for me and has saved me a few times.

The visual alert is real nice and super bright. Works very well.

I've never installed the wireless audio alert but have it.

I run a Escort 8500 on another bike and while it is maybe a bit more sensitive it's not water

proof and the visual alert (Marc Parnes) is no where near as bright as my TPX.

Well, I've got this one hooked up to my audio in my helmet, and it screams. Haven't had a chance to try it on my R12S, but I imagine it would do a similar job. If you see me posting about a ticket, I was wrong (as you see me now knocking on my wood desk and forehead). #-o
