BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

I've searched the forum, but didn't find anyone who mounted a "shorty" style exhaust can (similar to what would be on the S1000RR) on to their R1200R. I know it would need a specialized bracket to be made, but I thought it might look cool and I never use this bike with a passenger or saddle bags, so that's not a concern.

I know the S1000RR exhaust can is on the opposite side so this particular can wouldn't work, but this is the idea that I'm going for. Any ideas/suggestions or anyone done something similar?

the short exhaust would not run right,it would need a power commander to get fueling right to work , would look good .

I would have thought that anything from the cat-back wouldn't affect how it runs, just the sound. Guess I'll need to not go custom but off the shelf aftermarket....

here is a experiment to do ,take the end pipe of and give it a blast down a good road ,it will either run smooth and good ,running lean popping back quite a lot on overrun .if nothing then its ok .fuel injection adjusting itself , cannot see this though as the bike is set up to run with the proper silencer on .
or the bike will run terrible missing going up the rev range and popping back on over run (dangerously lean ) bike will
get very hot ,one symptom .
with the standard boat anchor silencer they are set up to run quite lean around 2500 rpm to 4200 rpm to meet the countries emissions .
the companies spend colossal amounts sorting the fueling up to meet these guidelines ,companies of aftermarket exhausts , no names mentioned ,also say set up a particular bike with a experiment exhaust ,run on a dyno monitoring all the rev range to get the fueling right so they don't run lean and go bang and then get lawsuits thrown at them.
end of the day if it runs perfect ,no flat spots or missing then it will be close to the standard setup, if it misses and pops ,its not right and will have a short life expectancy sooner or later .
