03 R1150 Speedo Glass Vibration

Post by browser7 »

Lately, my 03 R1150R had an odd vibration near the instrument cluster. I was able to isolate the vibration as coming from the glass covering the speedo. A finger pressed down on the glass stops the sound instantly. I have repositioned the speedo unit and retightened it down, but the vibration is still there. A strip of masking tape across the unit stops it, but its not very asthetically pleasing, Wondering if anyone out there has ever come across this problem and if there is any remedy.....it's driving me crazy. Thanks

hi,

I have a similar problem with my clock, however it is the back that vibrates. For now duck tape worked, but will see what the mechanic can do in a week's time. Will post an update then.

It took me a while to isolate it too, and it is very annoying

Cheers,

Pete

Is there any gap between the glass and its surround? You may be able to take a toothpick and dab a bit of silicone sealant between the glass and the surround, that would glue the glass in place and hopefully stop the vibration.

Just a thought.
