Will be looking for a back trunk this winter

Have a tank bag and side bags, now time to get a hard case trunk with a backrest.
Looking forward to some longer 2 up trips starting next spring.
Don't have a rack on the back, so will need the complete setup.
Looking for ideas that I don't have to mortgage the farm for.

Check ebay for a caribou case, or something similar. Easy to make a mounting fixture, if your handy, watertite. Thats what I did, works good.

Never heard of a "caribou" case, will take a look.

Here's something I found recently that I'm looking seriously at

That's a Givi rack to fit the 1150R, and various of their trunks
fit that rack.
Halfway reasonable, at least for bike accessories.
I've looked on ebay, and the sellers there are most new stuff
at comparable or higher prices. Would have to keep looking
to snag a good used one, it's always possible with enuf time.

Sorry, most people know those cases I was speaking of as "Pelican" cases. Lots of businesses use these for shipping tooling and cameras etc. and they are watertite. i got used to these thru my work, I carry lots of spare parts to field jobs all over the east coast, so I got one in in "orange" used from ebay. I am an engineer, so with a sketch, had a machinist at work make a mount. Mine is a Pelican 1550, which is a common size for bike guys.

Irecently switched out my Chinese clone for a nice Shad 42 litre topcase. They come with the mtg plate kit unlike Givi-arm & a leg thing for plate. The shads are cheaper & quality too,backrest you can easily make and just fasten on or do W/O.

I also am looking for the same for my R1150RS but to go stock will run me over $700 and just can justify it.

I bought the Hepco Becker TC 40.. I'm very pleased with it.. absolutely waterproof.. very much on par with the quality of the system cases..
I think it looks good with the bike.. nice proportion..
Next season, I'm riding two up and camping.. will need more space.. so adding the TC40 top rack and getting a couple small Ortlieb Q duffle bags from Aerostich to strap to the top of the system cases.. They'll attach nicely and give her decent arm rests..
Like you.. I am always searching for the 'perfect' setup! I think I'm getting close

Don't know what [style] you like? But i have a Givi e-52 {52liter} that I use on Both my Roadster & My Nomad .
Very well made, & roomy. It has the ability to have 2 extra stoplamps, if that's important to you? If not hooked up, they look & act as reflectors. It locks on it's own plate / rack. Did I mention roomy?

I have a Givi and it's rack and wiring which came on my '02 RR and I haven't known what to do with it. Don't know it's vintage. It's in very good shape though there are some scratches on the steel tubing of the rack. If you're interested I'll send photos and you can make an offer if you are interested in it.
