Gray R/NJ Plates Parked Nexted to Me at the MOA Rally

Any of you guys? It was the same color as mine, so I'm guessing it was a 2010. Looked like the BMW low touring shield and and a Russell. Right outside the registration tent at about noon.
It was an adventurous day up and back for me. Up, I hit a pile of gravel at about 50 MPH (luckily on a straight section of road) then had a yellow jacket fly up my sleeve and sting me. Coming home, I had to dodge a bear in the Bald Eagle State Forest.

It may have been my 2009.
I arrived at the Fairgrounds around 1030am, and stayed until a little after 400pm. Worked the 12-4 Registration shift. Temps were tolerable under the bigtop, as long as the breeze was blowing.
My adventure for the weekend occurred this morning, while leave the Mt. Olympus apartment dorms. Lets just say that slowly rolling downhill, while turning, and while applying the brakes should be avoided. Net result is that I did a tumble, bruising my ego. Broke the lens to one of the front turn signals, and scratched one of the bags. Got off easy.

Actually, touching the front brake at slow speed with the bars turned is what got you: Rear brake only at parking lot speeds !. You absolutely must have the bars square and tire straignt ahead before applying front brake at slow maneuvering speed or the bike will dump in the direction the bars are turned, as you found out. Glad mostly the ego was the only thing hurt !.

I had the same scenario, slow right turn someone cut in front of me and bike ended up doing slow roll to the right. I think it's because I try not to use the foot brake on his bike because of excessive brake pad wear. I'll have to put in some time doing some slow turns in a parking lot using the foot brake to stop, and hope that my rapidly disintegrating brain remembers when it counts.

Since the brakes are partially linked, I only use the hand lever for normal braking and only the foot if I have to brake in a turn, like a parking lot or downhill hairpin. But I think the only way to remember in a pinch is through practice. That's the reason I still do weekly panic stop practice.
