Oh Yea !!! I also watch the whole weekend of the f-1 races. I have also been to two races @ indy and saving my cash for the 1st race at the new track in Austin. Still rooting for Schumi too!

Rumor has it that Bernie would love to have a F-1 race with NYC as the background !! The talks have begun. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I was about 4 years old for this, watched it from my grandmother's second floor balcony. Not F1 but I can still hear and see the cars running down the seawall, sure had an impact to say the least

I used to go to the races in Indy. I was there for the Michellin tire debacle. Then the year Montoya took out half the field. That track was cursed I tell you. Looking forward to the Texas race next year. I'll be there.

What is the ETA on the track up in Austin? I went by there last spring but really couldn’t tell much other than seeing the main construction entrance.

We need to keep this on the radar for a beemer ride to the races.....

Bummer, my son and I were really looking forward to making the Texas race a vacation. As an avid F-1 fan I had big hopes for a world class track in the USA (Indy was nice but seemed temporary). On a brighter note... If the Jersey race is in June we may ride the bikes there. . Gonna need some research on where to stay.

Looks like the austin race is going to be a sure thing. I'm resuming vacation plans for that week in november. I cant wait to see and hear the F-1 cars again,they send chills down my spine and my hair to stand on end !

I wish that there was a way to record the sound the an F1 field that was truly accurate. Makes your skin crawl, in a good way. I love MotoGP bikes but they just don't have that sound, my God they are loud though. I haven't been to a race since Long Beach but can only imagine what a modern F1 car sounds like in person with mostly 8 cylinder engines turning the same rpm as MotoGP bikes.

I went to all of the Long Beach races and saw men do things in cars that just didn't seem possible. I saw Keke Rosberg spin between two corners and gather it back up and keep on going seamlessly, doubt that he lost a tenth. Skill or luck it was just incredible. I saw the radical Tyrrel 6 wheeler, the unusual Brabham with the flat sided heat exchangers (later to become the infamouse "sucker car"), and some of the most beautiful cars like the mid-70's Ferraris, Wolfs, Shadows, etc... before it all became a wind tunnel exercise. I also saw Clay Reggazoni crash right in front of me at the Queens Hairpin which ended his career and left him partially paralyzed. He didn't seem to slow down and appeared to intentionally knock off the wheels and suspension on his and another car already dead in the runoff before going straight into the tire barrier. Incredible presence of mind. Another incredible show of what they did was when Johnny Cecotto (former motorcycle Grand Prix champ) knocked off his left rear tire in the middle of the long sweeping corner before the hairpin (the highest speed "straight" of the track). Turns out that the place where he hit had a concrete barrier that stuck out about an inch and he caught it! 180 mph and he caught a freakin 1" projection! Just thinking about this gets me excited about next year.

Back in the early 80s we had three USGPs in a season! Now we have none. We possibly have 2 coming now but the FIA used to require that any new track have a least one race run by a major sanctioning body that they recognize before they show up. I think this may have been tossed from what I remember about the 1st Korean GP. I hope Austin can pull it together in time, NJ looks pretty soild at this time and the kind of exposure that a race could get in that venue could be very good for F1 in the US market.

With Kimi back and Vettel/Red Bull looking to become the new Schumacher/Ferrari things should get hopping. I don't think anyone wants to see the runaway days of Schumacher/Ferrari and they will fight harder, including the FIA, to keep it from happening again.

Every year is a new year but this may be more of a change since 2009, at least I hope.

in reality noone knows until the season starts how the cars will perform, to say if we will have Schumi/ferrari days all over again

I'm hearing that Rubens barrichello doesn't have a F-1 seat and is going to test an Indy car in FLA. Might add a little excitement to the series.
