Helmet Lock

I wanted a way to secure my helmet and jacket to the bike, so if I were on a trip with full saddlebags, I could leave that stuff and go for a walk. The RS had little tabs under the seat, and I carried a short length of plastic-covered wire cable with looped ends; thread the cable around the chin bar, pop the rear seat, fit the loose end of the cable over the tab, and replace the seat. I carried a longer cable in my jacket; it could be passed through the sleeves to secure the jacket, and, in turn, have the shorter cable pass through its ends.
At the dinner table tonight, I bemoaned the lack of a helmet tab, and said I didn't want to add another lock, and have to carry another key. Mary suggested I might add a tab to the R12. Hmm.
Turns out there *are* two tabs under the R12R seat: their ends hold up the front of the seat. But their entire front curved portion is available, and there's a handy gap in the plastic bodywork immediately below. Voila:
It's more fiddly than the RS's lock (a small relief filed into the inward-facing edge of the bottom of the plastic piece won't show, and will facilitate feeding the cable), but it's clean and I already had the bits.
(added later): I fed the cable under the gloss plastic trim piece. A few inches forward, at the aft end of the matte injector cover, there's much more room, and it's easy to feed the cable through.
