Information on the R1200R BMW comfort seat is it much better then the high seat (830) in particular for the passenger. I had a passenger comfort seat on my R1150R and it was brilliant, but the R1200R in pictures looks little different especial the all important pillion part or would I just be better of with a lams wool cover at one third the cost. Also what hight is the comfort seat or are thy made in all 3 heights. The seat is the only disappointing part of the R1200R for me the F800R seat is much roomier and a lot more comfortable

Neil,
There has been much discussion on the forum about the comfort seat. Do a search on "comfort seat." Here is just one thread:
New member, new bike. New seat
I have a comfort seat on my bike and it is a great improvement over the stock seat.

The comfort seat comes in two heights: the low is the same height as the medium or regular non-comfort seat; the high comfort seat is about the same as the high seat.
The comfort seat is shaped and padded differently, and is wider. I got one week before last but haven't been able to try it out yet. Sitting in the garage, it does seem to be significantly different. Whether it's $542 better remains to be seen.
I can't comment on the pillion position.

Can someone please post a picture of a "comfort seat"? I have no idea what they look like.

The photo above is actually one that I posted of my saddle a bit over a year ago. It's the tall version of the comfort saddle. I'm completely satisfied with it. It's comfortable on long rides despite my excess weight and my boney old butt.

LOL! I didn't know it was your photo. I'm transfixed watching the Egyptian revolution so I just googled instead of walking out to the garage and taking a picture of my own.

Hi Neil, I've improved my pillion's comfort a lot by having the seat re-done by John Moorehouse at ergo seats in Brisbane. We started out trying sheepskin, then an airhawk pad but finally I sent the seat, along with some photos of my wife sitting on it and a description of what we wanted to John and he re-foamed and recovered the seat to suit. Worked very well for us, no more "taps on the shoulder" every hour or so. I've since seen one other R12R seat done by John and it is a completely different shape to mine, so he clearly tailors them to suit each customer's request.
Cheers
Peter

Does anyone know if the "strapless" seat on the 2011 bikes is the same as the comfort seat except for the grab strap? Same heights, shape? It looks more like the 2-height comfort seat than like the 3-height "uncomfortable" seat, but I think they're still offering three heights, so I'm just wondering what the deal is. I like the strapless look, and if the shape/composition is comparable to the comfort seat I might have to go for it.

Let me throw in that I've owned my comfort seat for a week and half but today was the first day that the weather allowed me to get out of my garage. I was only able to ride a few miles but was very impressed. I can't wait to see how it is after a few hours.

I've tried to add photos but I get a error message "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image".
So here are some links to photos of my seat:
